IP Design Group Wins AEI Award of Excellence

OMAHA, NE – IP Design Group is pleased to announce that our work on the First National Tower was honored with the Architectural Engineering Institute’s (AEI) 2024 Professional Project Award of Excellence in the renovation category. IP Design Group was officially presented with the award on April 10 during the Awards Ceremony hosted during AEI’s annual technical forum in San Jose, California.

AEI’s Professional Project Awards focus on the design and construction of high-performance buildings and emphasize celebrating an integrated project approach and project team collaboration. The awards jury commended our team on its exemplary work on the First National Tower’s upgraded and robust audiovisual systems. The project team effectively aligned the technological capabilities of the space with the owner’s needs and overall vision for the renovation. Project highlights include cutting-edge active learning space technology packages to promote employee collaboration, immersive projection mapping technology paired with architecturally embedded sculptures, premier direct-view LED walls, and soundscapes.

“We put 100% into every project that we work on, but when we create something special that stretches the boundaries of client expectations, it is gratifying to be recognized for the effort,” stated Steve Miller CTS, “It was the ‘thinking outside of the box’ approach to problem solving and the manner in which each team member coordinated homogenously that made all the difference in this project.”

Steve is a senior audiovisual technical lead with IP Design Group who played a pivotal role in providing the design and consultation for the building’s new and improved audiovisual and technology systems. Our firm’s emphasis on working with a multitude of different stakeholders to provide a truly customized solution was a major contribution to the project’s overall success.

“With a building restack of this magnitude, it is such a monumental task that it requires everyone involved to bring their A-game,” stated Steve Miller, “From engineering and design to project management, as well as the owner and their vision of the final outcome, everyone on this project came together to make it happen smoothly.”

In addition to garnering an AEI Award, the First National Tower project also earned ACEC Nebraska’s 2024 Engineering Excellence Honor and Category Winner Award in the building systems and technology section.

AEI is a non-profit organization for architectural engineering founded by the American Society of Civil Engineers. AEI provides more than 8,000 members with technical information, professional advocacy, continuing education, and opportunities to excel in their careers.
