National Intern Day: Aidan Bertucci

National Intern Day Aidan Bertucci

What or who inspired you to pursue a career in technology engineering?

“I was inspired to pursue a career in engineering by my love of creating things. I was always interested in how things worked and how to create them, whether it was cars, buildings, speaker systems, or even a simple DIY project. Seeing any project progress to its end goal is very exciting to me. When I found out engineering was the creation of the components that go inside a building and make it function, it was a no-brainer for me.”

“IP Design Group has done a great job of getting me involved in projects that pique the interests I have expressed to the team.”

What do you like most about working in this industry?

“What I enjoy most about working in this industry is that every project has its own unique challenges. Some tasks may be the same, but on any given day, something new and challenging can arise. To me, that leads to many exciting opportunities, which makes life pretty fun.”

What has been your favorite part of your internship at
IP Design Group?

“So far, my favorite part of my internship at IP Design Group has been the opportunities I have been given. Those who take the time to mentor and teach me are not afraid to challenge me and give me more opportunities. I also feel that I can always ask a question, no matter how crazy it may be, and anyone is willing to answer. I have also enjoyed learning a ton about the project tasks that I am passionate about doing. IP Design Group has done a great job of getting me involved in projects that pique the interests I have expressed to the team.”

What skill sets have you obtained during your internship?

“The list of skills that I have learned during my internship is almost too long to list out. Almost everything I have learned thus far is brand new to me. I have learned all things acoustically, from items related to sound isolation, mechanical noise analysis, room acoustics, speech privacy, measurement and testing standards, and so much more. I have also recently been learning about some audiovisual tasks related to speaker design layout and sizing selection on a few projects. I have been given a great opportunity to learn as much as I have as quickly as I have.”

What advice do you have for other students looking for an internship in the engineering field?

“Put yourself out there. Learn as much as you can, and never be afraid to ask questions. Don’t be afraid to be told you are wrong because you will be hundreds of times. Just learn from it. Lastly, understand what type of tasks you want to do and seek out a job that challenges you to make goals that are almost too large
to achieve.”
